The American Treasure Tour Museum in Montgomery County is one of the most incredible places that I’ve explored in Pennsylvania, and I’m excited to be one of the very few people ever given the chance to run a photography workshop in this special museum.
This museum is the collection of one unnamed collector and features literally hundreds of thousands of incredible items spanning almost every subject imaginable from antique automobiles and vintage toys to circus memorabilia, old store signs, and giant busts of Brittany Spears and Donald Trump.
I know saying that there’s something for everyone is a bit cliche, but if you love photographing objects, macro photography, and the like, there really is something for everyone here.
Normally, visits to the collection are done via an indoor trolley ride (Which you might consider booking separately to see the collection and learn its history prior to the workshop). This makes getting quality photos very difficult. However, during this workshop, we will actually be able to walk through the collection and take up-close photos of the great items on display. All the lights and animations will be running, so the photo opportunities here are endless.
This opportunity is very rare, and if you wanted this type of access outside of a photography workshop, you’d be paying a LOT of money to rent the facility on your own. Instead, you’ll get three hours of photography with the collection to let you get some fantastic photos.
That makes this workshop an incredibly rare and special experience that you definitely won’t want to miss.
Note that participants will have a lot of freedom to photograph the collection, but representatives of the museum will be on-hand to make sure rules are properly followed. You will not be allowed to touch or move the collection, and you can only go behind it with permission from the staff. Their decisions on what can and can’t be done are final and failure to follow rules may result in being asked to leave the site without a refund.
I will be on hand throughout the event and am willing to provide as much or as little help as you’d like during your visit to the museum. I highly recommend bringing a medium-range zoom lens, a DSLR or mirrorless camera, and a tripod to make sure you can get the best possible shots. If you think you’ll want help during your visit, bringing your camera’s owner’s manual is also a good idea.
Note that the minimum age to participate in this workshop is 18. Everyone attending is required to purchase a ticket regardless of whether or not they will be shooting photos.
Since this workshop is indoors, it is a rain-or-shine event. However, if we must cancel the workshop for some reason, we will try to reschedule it. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, you can apply your amount paid to another photo workshop or receive a full refund.
This workshop also has a minimum number of participants required for it to go on. Should that minimum not be met at least 10 days prior to the workshop, all money will be refunded.
If you have any other questions regarding site rules, refund policies, suggested equipment, or anything else, read our FAQ page. You can also message me using the form below.
Note regarding Covid: All participants will be required to sign a waiver to participate in the workshop, in part noting the inherent risks of participating in a workshop during the current pandemic. Unless required by local regulations or requested by the site’s owner, masks will not be required. The instructor will have his own mask and will put one on when working one-on-one with you if you would like him to.
If you have tested positive for Covid-19 within 5 days of the workshop or meet the current CDC guidelines for quarantining at the time of the workshop, we ask that you not come. We will provide a full refund if you are unable to come due to a positive Covid test or quarantine.
Note that we will always follow local regulations and the wishes of the site regarding Covid, so these policies will be changed if necessary should the rules change.
