I’m just going to come out and say it: Troegs Brewery in Hershey, Pennsylvania, is absolutely fantastic. There’s no doubt that it’s one of the best breweries on the east coast. It’s also one of the best places to eat in Hershey, PA.
A few months ago, I visited Troegs Brewery for ‘research purposes’ (I love my job!) for my other travel site, Tripologist.com.
While there, I took their brewery tour, which I found to be absolutely fantastic. For $12, the tour gives you a great behind the scenes look at the brewery’s inner workings, and includes several free samples of beer. I highly recommend it!
Tours do fill up fast, however, so if you can’t get on the guided tour, you can still take a self-guided tour, but you’ll be on the outside looking in and won’t get free beer.
After taking a tour, head over to the snack bar and tasting room. The obvious centerpiece of the tasting room is the large wooden bar. It’s a popular place even at lunchtime on weekdays.
From their in-house bar, you have the choice of any of their fantastic beers or getting a sampler of 6 of Troegs’ top brews. Also of interest are their scratch, or small production, beers. Each of these have been brewed using experimental techniques. While most will just be briefly featured, several former scratch beers have made their way into Troegs’ regular and seasonal offerings.

Visiting Troegs Brewery
Visiting Troegs Brewery is quite easy as it’s located within minutes of downtown Hershey and Hershey Park. Tours run at least three times every daily. The tasting room and the self-guided tours are available currently on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.
Guided tours can be booked on the Troegs Brewery website and additional information about tours can be found here: Troegs.com. Reservations are recommended several weeks in advance if possible as tours fill up quickly.
Just stumbled across your blog and glad to see someone else advocating for PA-based travel. This is definitely making me think I need to get up to the Troegs Brewery as soon as possible…I’m just in Lancaster so don’t really have an excuse for missing out on this for so long.
