There are few outdoor regions in Pennsylvania that I enjoy exploring more than the Laurel Highlands. And, while hotels are few and far between, especially in the more rural portions of the state, there are many great cabins, Vrbos, and Airbnbs in the Laurel Highlands to stay in.
The Laurel Highlands is a three-county region in the southwestern part of Pennsylvania filled with a plethora of public lands. This means there are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, vistas, waterfalls, and even caverns to explore. This area also abounds with history, including several French and Indian War-era forts and the only preserved Native American battlefield in the state.
So, if you are looking for a great Vrbo, Airbnb, or cabin in the Laurel Highlands for your next visit to the area, here are some unique options to pick from.

Located near Stoystown and Somerset, this cabin in the Laurel Highlands offers incredible rustic charm.
Surrounded by towering trees, this wood cabin sits in the middle of 26-private acres and is the perfect spot to relax, but is close enough to attractions that you can easily explore the eastern Laurel Highlands.

Perched on a mountaintop near Hopwood, PA, you’ll find the Laurel View Retreat.
This eight-bedroom home features plenty of room to spread out and has a rustic but modern feel on the interior. A multi-story deck has with a pool and offers amazing views towards Uniontown more than 2,000 feet below you.

Located only a short drive south of Ohiopyle State Park, this treehouse looks like an incredible place to stay while exploring the area. In fact, it’s one of my favorite rental cabins in Pennsylvania!
This treehouse is made of local lumber and offers the chance to sleep amongst the trees. While it is only one large room, it contains all the modern amenities you’ll need, including electricity, running water, and even a hot tub. There is also a large deck so you can sit out and enjoy the beauty of southwestern PA.

Cottage near Ligonier
If you’re looking for one of the best Airbnbs in the Laurel Highlands near the Lincoln Highway and Ligonier, this cottage is a great choice.
Inside, this cottage combines wood and stone and classic and modern to create a one-of-a-kind feel. The modern kitchen and bathroom are a great touch.
Outside, this cute-as-a-button cottage offers a large patio, a fire pit, and great views of the countryside and forest.

Indian Lake Luxury Cabin
This incredible lakefront cabin on Indiana Lake in the eastern Laurel Highlands has to be seen to be believed.
This cabin features high-vaulted ceilings in the great room with huge windows looking out towards the lake. There are four bedrooms and two fireplaces in the home. One of the bedrooms also has a large soaker tub and a steam shower.
Outside, you’ll find a great patio right on the lake with a fire pit. There is a porch attached to the house, a playset for kids, and provided kayaks for exploring Indian Lake.

Farm Stay at Horizon View Farms
Spend the night on a working warm at Horizon View Farms in Somerset County.
This historic farmhouse resembles a bed and breakfast but is a private homestead for visitors. An optional breakfast can be added with your stay to complete the experience.

Champing at the Clement
Looking for possibly the most unique Airbnb in the Laurel Highlands? Look no further than this fun spot.
The Clement is a historic church built in 1903 that is now an event venue, co-working space, and camping destination (Church + Camping = Champing). Visitors can pitch a tent and use the provided bedding to camp in any number of spots inside this beautiful building that is filled with stained glass and historic murals.
Of course, even though this is a unique space, there are still normal amenities available for guests like hot showers, wifi, and a kitchen.

Rustic Cabin Near Seven Springs
This incredible A-frame cabin is located in a secluded spot near Donegal, PA and Seven Springs Resort. Without a doubt, it’s one of our favorite cabins in the Laurel Highlands.
The cabin offers rustic comforts, but with modern amenities such as wi-fi and television. Of course, with so much to do, you probably won’t be spending much time connected.
This cabin features an indoor fireplace and an outdoor fire pit. There is also a semi-private pond nearby where you can go swimming or fishing.

The Yurt at Rafferty Manor
There’s no question that this is probably the most rustic option on this list. However, if you want to stay in a unique and historic spot in the heart of Ohiopyle, this is a neat place to spend the night.
This yurt was built in 1918 and sits just across the railroad tracks from Ohiopyle, giving you quick and easy access to restaurants and hiking trails. This one-room yurt features sparse furnishings inside with just two beds, two chairs, and a heater. However, you also have access to a nearby bathhouse and a firepit.
While this spot is definitely not for everyone, those that don’t mind rustic accommodations are sure to enjoy it.

Chalet in the Laurel Highlands
Get away from it all at this chalet that’s located 10 miles from the nearest restaurant, but still an easy drive to several ski resorts and hiking areas.
This cozy two-bedroom chalet features modern amenities and a fireplace on the inside, while still retaining a quiet charm.
Outside, you’ll find a large deck with a private hot tub. There is also a beautiful stream and two ponds that you can explore during your visit.

While this farmhouse is historic, it has been incredibly well remodeled and features many stunning modern amenities, while still retaining historic touches. It is sure to be a great spot to spend a few days relaxing and explore the Laurel Highlands.

Located just south of Route 40 near Ohiopyle and Kentuck Knob, this cabin combines rustic charm with modern amenities in a location that makes it easy to access many of the area’s highlights.

The Laurel Highlands region is known for its many Frank Lloyd Wright properties, and, if you want to stay in a house that’s inspired by his design, this Airbnb is a great choice.
This three-bedroom home was designed to take inspiration from Wright’s 1938 Life Maganize Dream House. Inside, you’ll find a well-lit space with beautiful stonework and touches that are sure to remind you of Wright’s design taste.
